You can pay a parking fee at a parking meter, at a ticket machine, at an Urbanomat machine, or by using the Urbana SMS Parking service.

Parking fee payment at parking meters

You can pay a parking fee at a parking meter in a time-limited parking area where there are parking spaces along municipal roads, and where parking fees are applicable. The time-limited parking area is divided into three parking zones, namely Zone 1, Zone 2, and Zone 3. You can find a map of the parking zones here.

Parking meters enable quick and easy payment of the parking fee. Upon paying the parking fee, a parking ticket is printed for the user, which must be placed in a visible place on the inside of the vehicle's windscreen. The user can choose any length of parking time, taking into account the shortest and longest available time frame determined for each individual parking zone.

Payment of the parking fee at a parking meter is possible with cash, specifically coins of five different denominations (€2, €1, €0.50, €0.20 and €0.10). The parking meter does not return change, so it is necessary to pay the exact amount according to the desired parking time. Payment of a parking fee at a parking meter is also possible using the Valu payment system or with an Urbana city card. Depending on the amount paid, the corresponding parking time in hours and minutes is stated on the parking ticket.

Use of the parking meter is simple, as the user is assisted by both images and written instructions in the Slovenian language, as well as three foreign languages, namely English, German, and Italian. On each parking meter there is also the telephone number of the Traffic Management Centre, where the user can get additional information regarding the use of the parking meter, or report possible malfunctions of the parking meter.

Parking fee payment at Urbanomat machines

Payment of a parking fee at an Urbanomat machine is possible using cash, the Valu payment system, or with an Urbana city card (hereinafter Urbana). To activate this, you need an Urbana card, which you can buy at an Urbanomat machine. You can find more information about the Urbana card here.

Parking fee payment using the Urbana SMS Parking service

You can pay a parking fee in the time-limited parking area's parking spaces along municipal roads using the Urbana SMS Parking service. The time-limited parking area is divided into three parking zones, namely Zone 1, Zone 2, and Zone 3. You can find a map of the parking zones here.

To use the service, you need a registered Urbana SMS Parking account (hereinafter referred to as “account”), with registration being performed automatically upon first topping up. The account is linked to the user's phone number and does not require an Urbana card. Topping up the account can be done at Urbanomat machines or all other points of sale for buying and topping up Urbana cards. You can find a more detailed list of sales points here.

Topping up your account at an Urbanomat machine

  • select "Urbana SMS Parking account top-up",
  • call 00386 41 20 20 10 and touch the phone to the terminal,
  • select the top-up option and payment method: cash/card,
  • pay,
  • the Urbanomat prints an account top-up receipt.

Topping up your account at sales points

  • tell the cashier you wish to top up your Urbana SMS Parking account,
  • call 00386 41 20 20 10 and touch the phone to the terminal,
  • the cashier enters the desired top-up amount and completes the top-up transaction,
  • the cashier hands you a top-up receipt.

Paying a parking fee by sending an SMS message

With a topped-up account, it is possible to pay a parking fee by sending an SMS message. The service is simple and safe for the user.

Send an SMS to the number 00386 41 20 20 10 with the following content:

  • time-limited parking area where the vehicle is parked (example C2),
  • vehicle registration number (example LJ12ABC),
  • parking time in hours (example 2).

Spaces must be entered between individual text entries for the time-limited parking area (hereinafter the “area”), vehicle registration number, and parking time. Example: C2 LJ12ABC 2 (area C2, reg. no. of vehicle, number of hours).

In case you do not know the code of the area where you parked your vehicle, you will find it printed on the parking meter. The area code is printed next to the parking meter number, for example 189B1 – where B1 is the area code. You can also find a map of parking zones and areas here.

After successful payment of the parking fee, you will receive an SMS message, which is valid as proof of payment of the parking fee.

If you wish to receive an SMS notification about the expiry time of the paid parking fee, send an SMS message with the keyword OBVESTILO DA to the phone number 00386 41 20 20 10. The cost of the notification to the amount of EUR 0.06 will be charged to your account. If you wish to cancel SMS notifications about the expiry time of paid parking fees, send an SMS message with the keyword OBVESTILO NE to the phone number 041 20 20 10.

You can extend your parking time by repeating the above process for paying the parking fee. The parking time can be extended up to the maximum allowed parking time in each zone, or until the end of our operating time.

If you do not enter the number of hours at the end, you will pay for one hour of parking by default. Example: c1 lj1234.

The use of the Urbana SMS Parking service is available to all mobile phone users, regardless of subscription type and operator type.

When using the Urbana SMS Parking service, the cost of an outgoing SMS message or a call to the number 041 20 20 10 is billed according to the price list of your mobile operator.

All incoming return SMS messages are free of charge, except messages received from the notification service for expired parking times, which you must register for. The cost of each such SMS message received, in the amount of EUR 0.06, is charged to your Urbana SMS Parking account.

You are not automatically notified when your paid parking time expires. You can subscribe to the expiry notification service, whereupon you will receive an SMS notification ten minutes before the expiry of your paid parking time. You can turn the notification service on or off at any time. To activate the notification service, send an SMS message with the content NOTIFICATION YES to the number 041 20 20 10. To turn off the notification service, send an SMS message with the content NOTIFICATION NO to the number 041 20 20 10.

The cost of each notification of the expiry of your paid parking, in the amount of EUR 0.06, is charged to your Urbana SMS Parking account.

The zone of the time-limited parking area is shown on the parking meters and on the traffic signs at the beginning of the street in each time-limited parking area.

Parking meter signage example: 149C13, where the number 149 represents the number of the parking meter and the number C13 represents the number of the time-limited parking area.

You can check the balance of your Urbana SMS Parking account by sending an SMS with the keyword BALANCE to the number 00386 41 20 20 10. A parking fee will not be charged outside of working hours, even if you send an SMS to pay a parking fee.

You can extend the parking time by repeating the process for paying the parking fee before your parking time expires. The parking time can be extended up to the maximum allowed parking time in the parking zone, or until the end of our operating time.

You can extend or pay for additional parking time only 15 minutes after paying the original parking fee. If you send an SMS message for the payment of your parking fee extension less than 15 minutes after the first SMS message for the payment of your original parking fee (by mistake or because you did not receive a response from the server), you will receive the same SMS message as when you originally paid the parking fee, or the same message you should have received the first time. In this case, the balance of your Urbana SMS Parking account will not be charged again.
